Frequently Asked Questions

  • You’ll work with a licensed mental health provider, which may include psychologists, psychotherapists, registered social workers, or speech-language pathologists. We take care to match you with the right practitioner based on your goals, schedule, and unique needs. Our team has corporate experience and is trained to support professionals, students, and entrepreneurs navigating challenges such as self-confidence, public speaking anxiety, workplace stress, and workplace bullying. You’re always welcome to request a specific provider. Getting started is simple — just complete our intake form or email us at hello@amandatobepsychology.com.

  • Our practitioners are highly trained mental health professionals with corporate and performance psychology backgrounds. They combine evidence-based tools with practical strategies to help clients overcome self-limiting beliefs, build confidence, and take meaningful steps forward. They also receive ongoing guidance from Dr. Amanda Tobe, who brings extensive experience in career development, talent management, and performance management.

  • We use a short intake questionnaire to match you with the practitioner best suited to your goals, personality, and schedule. You can also explore our team bios on the About Page to get a sense of each practitioner’s style. Free consultations are available if you want to speak directly with a potential provider before booking your first session.

  • Absolutely! Many clients like to request a specific practitioner, while others are happy to be matched. We do our best to accommodate preferences, though some providers may have scheduling limitations or waitlists.

  • All sessions are currently offered virtually, which makes it easy for us to support clients in Toronto and other major Ontario cities such as Mississauga, Ottawa, Hamilton, and London. Virtual sessions offer convenience and flexibility for professionals, students, and entrepreneurs managing busy schedules or workplace challenges.

  • Yes — with your written consent, our practitioners can collaborate to provide integrated support. For example, a client managing public speaking anxiety might work with a speech-language pathologist for skill practice and a psychologist for mindset and anxiety support. Collaboration ensures a holistic approach for clients navigating multiple challenges, including workplace stress or bullying.

  • Yes. Most clients can submit receipts for reimbursement if their plan covers the type of provider they’re working with (e.g., psychologist, social worker, or psychotherapist). Coverage varies, so we recommend confirming with your insurance provider. Many clients use benefits to help offset costs and pay the remainder themselves.

  • Career counselling at Amanda Tobe & Associates is provided by regulated health care professionals such as psychologists, psychotherapists, and social workers. Unlike career coaching, which is often unregulated, career counselling combines psychological expertise with career development tools. This means we can address not only practical career decisions but also the emotional barriers and mental health conditions that may stand in the way, such as low self-confidence, public speaking anxiety, workplace stress, or workplace bullying.

We also follow strict rules of confidentiality. Many of our clients — from seasoned executives to students and entrepreneurs in the Toronto and GTA area — appreciate having a safe, professional space to share sensitive information. Unlike some coaching programs, we don’t sell packages up front. Instead, we focus on individualized, ethical, and flexible care.

For other FAQs on our practice, please refer to our FAQ section on our About page.

  • Our licensed professionals bring both therapeutic training and career expertise. Using approaches like narrative therapy, CBT, ACT, and DBT, we help clients identify patterns, overcome limiting beliefs, and build healthier coping strategies. This deeper work often leads to breakthroughs — for example, discovering how perfectionism, fear of failure, or workplace stress may be shaping career choices.

Because we take a holistic perspective, we can support you not only with career clarity or a job search but also with the underlying mental health challenges (like anxiety, depression, or low self-confidence) that may be affecting your work life.
